First of all, the technology for creating rubber products consists of several complex processes: preparation of the initial product; path to formation; vulcanization. Preparing random products involves mixing different components. In addition to rubber, rubber contains: vulcanizers, vulcanization accelerators, fillers, antioxidants, plasticizers and dyes. The vulcanizer is usually sulfur, which determines the elasticity of rubber. It is very common for soft tires to have O-rings containing up to 8%. sulfur. Filler, mainly carbon black and SiO₂, which increases hardness and makes the rings strong. Substances introduced into the composition of polymer materials, namely petroleum jelly and paraffin, make rubber elastic and frost-resistant. Antioxidants prevent rubber from oxidizing, making the rubber less brittle and slowing down the formation of gaps in the ring. Substances such as paraffin, wax, aldol are used as antioxidants. It is also worth noting that pigments - ocher and ultramarine - perform an aesthetic function, delay aging, and can also allow the light spectrum to be absorbed.
Chemical composition
The material depends on the properties of the working fluid with which the product is in contact. Currently, the following O-rings are produced: rubber; rubber; silicone; leather.
Type by purpose
Rubber sealing rings are used in conjunction with asbestos-cement couplings of the CAM type to connect asbestos-cement pressure pipes. CAM rubber rings for asbestos-cement pipes are intended for sealing asbestos-cement pipes in pressure pipelines of water and hot water supply systems. They are used for pressure water supply and reclamation systems. Round rubber sealing rings in accordance with GOST 18829-73. Such products are used in pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel installations. Heat-frost-acid-alkali-resistant seals (TMKShch). These rings are used in pipelines transporting alkali, acid, and other chemicals, including at elevated temperatures. Rubber rings according to GOST 9833-73. These products are intended for use in the food industry, i.e. they can come into direct contact with food. Oil-gasoline-resistant (IBS) seals are used, respectively, in equipment whose working fluids are oil and gasoline.
