Steel forging, ring 34ХН1М  F480хf125х120 mm is a piece created from alloy or carbon steel using a forging process to improve the material's mechanical properties. During the forging process, the metal is heated to a ductile state and then deformed by pressure or impact, which results in a densified structure, increased strength, and the elimination of pores. Forgings are used in the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, power generation, mechanical engineering, and the creation of critical components such as equipment housings, flanges, gears, and shafts.

View by manufacturing method
Ingots, rolled products, or continuously cast blanks of carbon or alloy steel are used as the workpiece. The blank is cut to the required length. The blank is heated in a furnace to a temperature of 1100–1250°C, at which point the steel becomes ductile and suitable for deformation. The metal is deformed by open forging (with hammers or presses) and closed-die stamping. During this process, the shape is changed, the structure is compacted, and pores and defects are removed. Flash is removed, the geometry is straightened, and mechanical treatment is performed if necessary. The forgings are normalized, hardened, and tempered to achieve the required mechanical properties. Ultrasonic flaw detection, mechanical testing, and chemical analysis are also performed.
Chemical composition
Typical composition includes: Iron (Fe) – the base of the alloy (up to 97–99%), Carbon (C) – 0.15–0.60%, Manganese (Mn) – 0.3–1.6%, Silicon (Si) – 0.15–0.6%.
Type by purpose
In construction, forgings are used as elements of metal structures, supports and fences, as well as for the production of various fasteners (anchors, clamps, brackets, etc.) In the mechanical engineering industry, forgings are often used as blanks for the manufacture of machine parts: axles, shafts, gear elements (gears, rings), disks, bearings, etc. In the petrochemical industry. In the energy sector, forged metal rolls are used for rotor and compressor shafts, connecting parts (flanges), and cylinders. Forgings in shipbuilding are the main blanks for propeller, thrust and intermediate shafts, parts of ship hulls, etc. At metallurgical industry enterprises, forged steel is used as guide columns, roller mills, and pipe blanks. In the mining industry.
