First, a steel ingot is heated in a furnace to a high temperature (1100–1250°C). The red-hot blank is then pierced using a special piercing mill, forming a hollow tube. The tube is rolled on pipe mills or drawn through dies to achieve the desired diameter and wall thickness. The tube is normalized, quenched, or tempered to improve strength and ductility. After this, the tube is straightened, cut to specified lengths, and quality controlled.

The main elements of steel: Iron (Fe) — (≈ 97–99%), Carbon (C) — 0.05–0.6%, Manganese (Mn) — 0.3–1.5%, Silicon (Si) — up to 0.3–0.6%.
