Steel strip tool st. 3 10х100 mm is a rectangular rolled material made from carbon or alloy tool steels. It is used to create stamping, measuring, and cutting tools, press molds, knives, springs, dies, and saws. The strip is characterized by its ability to retain its cutting properties after heat treatment, high wear resistance, and high hardness. It is produced by cold or hot rolling followed by tempering and quenching. Due to its uniform structure and precise dimensions, tool steel strip is widely used in metalworking and mechanical engineering.

First, the feedstock (iron, carbon, and alloying elements—Cr, V, Mo, W, etc.) is melted in electric arc or induction furnaces. This produces tool steel of a specified chemical composition. The molten steel is then cast into ingots or continuously cast blanks (slabs or blooms). The blanks are heated and rolled in a mill to the desired thickness and width. The strip can be hot-rolled (at high temperatures) or cold-rolled (for precise dimensions and better surface quality). The strip is quenched and tempered to achieve high hardness, strength, and wear resistance. Straightening, cutting, grinding, and dimensional and surface quality inspection are performed.

Chemical composition

The chemical composition includes the following main elements: Iron (Fe) is the base of the alloy (≈ 95–99%), Carbon (C) – 0.6–1.5%. Alloying elements: Chromium (Cr) – 0.5–12%, Vanadium (V) – 0.1–1.5%, Molybdenum (Mo) – 0.1–1.0%, Tungsten (W) – 1–18%, Manganese (Mn) – 0.2–1.0%, Silicon (Si) – 0.2–1.0%.
