For cold welding of gray cast iron, Panch-11 steel wire is used for welding cast iron of the following composition: 7.0-7.5% C; 4.0-4.5% Si; 0.4-0.8% Mn; 0.4-0.6% Ti and 0.6-0.9% Al. This wire, taking into account the oxidation of the elements and dilution with the base metal (γ=45-60%), when welding with an average current of 40 A, provides the deposited metal and the fusion zone without chill and cracks. The structure of the weld metal is ferrite with point and rosette eutectic aphite. The mechanical properties of the weld metal are close to those of the base metal. The use of CO2 and CO2 + O2 as protection ensures a low hydrogen content in the weld and a low tendency of the weld metal to form pores.
