Boron nitride 25kg, wholesale colorless crystals. Crystalline boron nitride is isoelectronic to carbon and, like carbon, exists in several polymorphic modifications. It has a hexagonal graphite-like crystal structure. Melting point 3000 °C.

Boron nitride is chemically inert at room temperature, does not react with oxygen or chlorine, acids or alkalis. Oxygen and chlorine begin to act on it at temperatures above 700 °C. Reacts with fluorine (forming BF3 and N2) and with HF (forming NH4BF4) - hot alkali solutions decompose it with the release of NH3. In an inert atmosphere, silicon carbide decomposes only at very high temperatures.

Begins to decompose into elements at temperatures above 1000°C. Silicon carbide is the only binary compound formed by the elements of Group IV of the Periodic Table of Elements of D. I. Mendeleev. Silicon carbide refers to covalent crystals. The share of the ionic bond due to some difference in the electronegativity of the Si and C atoms does not exceed 10-12%.
