Carbamide is alkylated to form the corresponding N-alkylureas RNHCONH2, reacts with aldehydes to form derivatives of 1-amino alcohols RC(OH)NHCONH2,

Under harsh conditions, carbamide is acylated by carboxylic acid chlorides to form ureides (N-acylureas).

In the industrial sphere, carbamide is synthesized by the Bazarov reaction from ammonia and carbon dioxide at a temperature of 130-140°C and a pressure of 200 atm.

Application:

In the industrial sector, carbamide is added in the preparation of resins and adhesives.

In animal husbandry, it is widely used as a feed additive.

In agriculture, urea is used as a fertilizer.
