Properties: low volatility, low viscosity, good dissolving power, resistance to air. Soluble in diethyl ether, ethanol, acetone, benzene. Insoluble in water.

Preparation: esterification of n-butyl alcohol with phthalic anhydride in the presence of acid catalysts at 120 - 140°C.

Density: 1.05 g/cm³.

Boiling point: 340°C

Pour point: -40°C
