It is obtained by dissolving metallic iron in sulfuric acid. In this case, hydrogen is released and iron sulfate (II) is formed. The resulting solution is then cooled and crystallized to obtain a crystal hydrate - iron sulfate. Copper sulfate can also be formed as a by-product during etching steel with sulfuric acid or during the production of titanium and other metals. It is also formed in natural conditions or during the processing of ores containing pyrite, with the participation of oxygen and moisture, iron sulfate is also formed.
