First, crude oil is heated and separated into fractions based on boiling point. Then, hydrocarbon fractions with a given boiling range are selected to ensure good solvent power and the required evaporation rate. The fractions are hydrotreated, desulfurized, or adsorption purified to remove sulfur compounds, resins, aromatic impurities, and odor. The ratio of paraffinic, naphthenic, and aromatic hydrocarbons is adjusted to achieve stable physicochemical properties. The resulting solvent is filtered and tested for clarity, fractional composition, density, and flash point.
