Basalt thermal insulation cord BTSh 60 mm is a heat-resistant material made from molten basalt fibers. It is resistant to high temperatures, moisture, and chemicals, and is extremely durable. The cord is widely used for sealing and thermal insulation in the energy, industrial, and construction industries. It is used to seal pipelines, furnaces, chimneys, and boilers. The material maintains its properties over long periods of use, does not emit toxic substances, and is non-flammable, making it a safe and reliable solution for a variety of applications.

View by manufacturing method
Basalt cord is made from natural basalt, a volcanic rock. First, the raw material is crushed and purified, then melted in furnaces at temperatures of approximately 1400–1500°C. The resulting molten mass is drawn into thin, continuous fibers. The fibers are then cooled and formed into threads, which can be further treated with binders to increase strength and flexibility. The threads are then twisted or braided into a cord of the desired diameter and density. In the final stage, the product can be heat-treated and impregnated with special compounds to improve fire and wear resistance. The result is a strong, fire-resistant, and durable material, ready for use in high-temperature conditions.
Chemical composition
Main components: silicon dioxide (SiO₂) — about 45–55%; aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) — 14–20%; iron oxides (Fe₂O₃ and FeO) — 5–12%; calcium oxide (CaO) — 5–10%; magnesium oxide (MgO) — 3–8%; sodium and potassium oxides (Na₂O and K₂O) — up to 5%.
Type by purpose
Basalt cord is used in various fields due to its heat resistance and strength. In industry, it is used to seal joints in furnaces, boilers, combustion chambers, and chimneys. In the energy sector, it serves as thermal insulation for pipelines and equipment operating at high temperatures. In construction, basalt cord is used to seal seams, provide fire protection for structures, and insulate ventilation ducts. In metallurgy and mechanical engineering, it is used to protect components from overheating and as a gasket material. It is also in demand for household applications—for example, for sealing fireplace and stove doors, where heat retention and operational safety are essential.
