Calcium silicate board 20х600х600 mm is a modern thermal insulation material made from lightweight aluminosilicate fibers pressed into a strong, rigid sheet. It can withstand temperatures exceeding 1200°C, exhibits high thermal stability, emits no harmful substances, and resists deformation. Due to its low thermal conductivity, the board is used in metallurgy, fireplaces, industrial furnaces, heating units, and boilers. The material is resistant to vibration and chemical exposure, and is lightweight, making it durable and easy to install.
The main thing
View by manufacturing method
First, slaked lime and silica (quartz sand, mineral slag, or sawdust with silica) are carefully crushed and sieved. The raw materials are then mixed with water to form a paste, and special binders and fillers are added. The mixture is formed into slabs of the required size by pressing or casting. The slabs are placed in an autoclave, where they are treated with steam under high pressure and temperature (approximately 180–200°C). This converts the lime into durable calcium silicate crystals, imparting fire resistance and high mechanical strength to the slabs. After the autoclave, the slabs are cooled, dried, and, if necessary, sanded to achieve a smooth surface.
Chemical composition
The main components are calcium oxide (CaO) – approximately 60–70%, silicon dioxide (SiO₂) – approximately 25–35%, and water (H₂O). Minor components include aluminum, magnesium, and iron. Fillers and stabilizers (e.g., cement, ash, and gypsum) are sometimes added.
Type by purpose
Calcium silicate boards are used for partitions, wall cladding, ceilings, and floors where thermal insulation and fire protection are required. They are also used in boiler rooms, furnaces, fireplaces, chimneys, and high-temperature process units. They are also used as a fire-resistant and thermally insulating material for air ducts. They are also used for thermal insulation of pipes and equipment, especially for pipelines carrying hot media and tanks. They are also used to enhance the fire resistance of structures and to insulate walls and ceilings.
