Ceramic fabric with aluminum coating 1,5 mm × 1 m × 30 m combines the reflective properties of aluminum with the strength of ceramic fiber. It can withstand open flames, direct thermal radiation, and extreme temperatures while maintaining structural stability. The aluminum layer effectively reflects up to 90% of heat flow, protecting structures and equipment and reducing heat transfer. The material is widely used in fire protection, shipbuilding, metallurgy, welding, and the power industry. Ceramic fabric is non-toxic, flexible, fire-resistant, and chemically resistant, making it a reliable solution for shielding and industrial thermal insulation.
The main thing
View by manufacturing method
First, ceramic fiber (usually based on aluminosilicates) is produced. The molten raw material is drawn or blown, producing thin, heat-resistant threads resistant to temperatures up to 1000–1400°C. The ceramic fibers are spun into yarn, sometimes with the addition of reinforcing threads (fiberglass or stainless steel). This yarn is woven on looms into a fabric of the desired density and weave. The finished fabric is heat-treated to stabilize the structure, remove binders, and improve fire resistance. The aluminum layer is applied by laminating aluminum foil with a heat-resistant adhesive. The material is tested for coating adhesion, density, and heat resistance, after which it is cut into rolls or sheets of specified dimensions.
Chemical composition
Most often, it is made from aluminosilicate ceramic fiber, which contains: Aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) - approximately 40-55%, Silicon dioxide (SiO₂), Calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium (MgO), and iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) (up to 2-3%). Aluminum coating - (Al) - approximately 99%.
Type by purpose
Main areas of application: for thermal insulation of furnaces, ladles, troughs, as well as for the protection of personnel and equipment from splashes of molten metal, used as heat-reflecting screens, insulation of pipelines, turbines, boilers and high-temperature units, it is used to manufacture fire curtains, curtains, screens, fire-resistant coatings and protective capes, used in the form of welding blankets and screens for protection from sparks, scale and infrared radiation, used for heat and fire protection of engine rooms, exhaust systems and technical rooms, used for thermal screens, protection of cables and units operating at extreme temperatures.
