Fireproof felt MKRV-200 4000x600x20 mm is a thermal insulation material made from heat-resistant ceramic or mineral fibers. It can withstand extremely high temperatures, often up to 1000–1400°C, without losing its properties. Due to its fire resistance and low thermal conductivity, the material is widely used in industry: for insulating heating units, chimneys, furnaces, metallurgical equipment, and boilers. Fireproof felt is easy to install, flexible, and lightweight, making it ideal for use in hard-to-reach areas. It is also resistant to most chemicals and sudden temperature changes.
The main thing
View by manufacturing method
First, refractory fiber is produced. To do this, the raw materials—usually aluminum and silicon oxides—are melted in furnaces at temperatures of approximately 1800–2000°C. The melt is drawn into thin fibers by air blowing or centrifugation. The fibers are then collected into a loose layer and evenly distributed. Special binders are added to the mass to provide strength. After this, the material is formed into a web of the desired thickness and density. In the final stage, the felt undergoes heat treatment and drying. The result is a lightweight, flexible, and high-temperature-resistant thermal insulation material used in furnaces, metallurgy, and power equipment.
Chemical composition
The main components are: silicon dioxide (SiO₂) — about 45–60% and aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) — about 40–55%.
Type by purpose
In metallurgy, the material is used for thermal insulation of smelting and heat-treating furnaces, casting molds, and to protect equipment from overheating. In mechanical engineering and power engineering, refractory felt is used to insulate boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, and pipelines. In construction, it is used to insulate fireplaces, chimneys, and furnaces. The material is also used in the chemical and glass industries, where equipment operates at high temperatures. Its flexibility and light weight make refractory felt suitable for insulating complex structures and hard-to-reach areas.
