Refractory adhesive is made from heat-resistant mineral components and binders. Liquid glass (sodium or potassium silicate), aluminous cements, or special heat-resistant resins are typically used as the base. Refractory fillers—fireclay powder, quartz sand, aluminum oxide, or silica—are added to ensure resistance to high temperatures. The manufacturing process begins with the preparation and grinding of dry components into fine particles. They are then thoroughly mixed in specific proportions. A liquid binder is then added, and the mixture is stirred until a homogeneous paste is formed. In some cases, plasticizers or stabilizers are added to improve the properties.

Chemical composition

The binder is the basis of the adhesive, providing adhesion and heat resistance: liquid glass (sodium or potassium silicate), aluminous cements, heat-resistant resins. Refractory fillers: fireclay powder (burnt clay, Al₂O₃ 2SiO₂), quartz sand (SiO₂), aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), silica (SiO₂).
