Inserts MKRV-340 are made of refractory fiber of mullite-silica composition, which is produced by melting pure aluminum and silicon oxides in an electric furnace, followed by fiber formation by blowing. To give the material strength, an organic binder is added to the fibers, the products are formed by vacuum pressing.

Inserts MKRV-340 are used for thermal insulation of the head part of ingots of round, square, rectangular and multifaceted sections. The products are designed for easy installation in molds or pouring molds, top extensions by surprise or fixed with glue, and/or mechanical fasteners, staples. When installing, possible linear or volumetric shrinkages during heating are taken into account.
