Cardboard MKRK-500 1000х1000х4 mm is a modern thermal insulation material used in high-temperature environments. It is made from silica and mullite fibers, which gives it thermal shock resistance, good heat resistance, and low thermal conductivity. The material is non-flammable, maintains its properties at temperatures up to 1200–1400°C, and does not support flame propagation. Fireproof cardboard is easy to install and cut, making it convenient to use. It is widely used in furnace construction, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and the power industry for thermal insulation of chimneys, boilers, furnaces, and other high-temperature equipment.

The main thing
View by manufacturing method
First, mullite-siliceous fiber is produced. Purified raw materials based on aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide are melted in high-temperature furnaces, after which the melt is drawn or blown, forming thin refractory fibers. The fibers are then crushed, mixed with water, and a small amount of organic or inorganic binders is added. The resulting suspension is thoroughly mixed until homogeneous. The mixture is then formed into sheets using vacuum filtration or rolling, giving the material the desired thickness. The formed sheets are dried and heat-treated, which removes the binders and increases the strength of the structure. In the final stage, the cardboard is cooled, cut to standard sizes, and quality controlled. The result is a lightweight, non-flammable, and high-temperature-resistant material ready for industrial use.
Chemical composition
The material is based on: Aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) — approximately 45–72% and Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) — approximately 28–55%. The following may also be present in small quantities: Alkali and alkaline earth metal oxides (Na₂O, K₂O, CaO, MgO).
Type by purpose
It is widely used in furnace construction for thermal insulation of industrial and laboratory furnaces, heating chambers, and muffle furnaces, as well as as a gasket and compensating material. In metallurgy, it is used to insulate crucibles, molds, and foundry equipment, and to provide thermal protection for components operating at extreme temperatures. In the energy sector, cardboard is used for thermal insulation of boilers, chimneys, flues, and turbine equipment. In mechanical engineering and the petrochemical industry, it serves as protection for pipelines, flanges, seals, and hot surfaces. The material is also in demand in construction for fireproofing structures, fireplaces, and fireplace inserts, and in instrument making and the aviation industry for insulating sensitive components from high temperatures.
