Wooden pallet - practicality in the warehouse and convenience at home

A pallet is an auxiliary packaging structure made of boards and bars, which has standard dimensions designed for automatic loaders and shipping cargo in sea containers. Thanks to its uncomplicated design, availability and standard dimensions, it is used not only in warehouses and logistics companies, but also in eco-style interior design.

Classification of wooden pallets

Material. Pallets are made of wood (birch, poplar, aspen, spruce or pine), plastic and metal.

Load capacity. Ordinary euro pallets can withstand loads up to 2000 kg, and non-certified counterparts - about 1000 kg. Lightweight options consist of fewer boards and can only withstand 700 kg. Reinforced 20cm wider than normal pallets and can carry 2500kg.

Sort. Certified wooden pallets are divided into the highest, first and second grade. In the highest there is not a single flaw in the wood, and the pallet itself has been used only a few times and does not contain cracks. The first grade differs from the highest only in a longer service life. In the second grade, cracks are allowed, as well as spots and traces of fungal infection on the wood. Among non-certified pallets, there is still a third grade of reusable pallets, the only requirement for which is to maintain the original shape of the product.

Design. Flat pallets are exactly what most people think of a pallet: a low structure for loading boxes or packages. Rack pallets differ from flat ones in vertical gratings - racks. There are several varieties of removable and permanent racks, different in strength and shape. These pallets carry fragile goods that need to be protected from shaking and falling. Finally, box pallets most closely resemble a box due to the dense decking of planks reinforced with diagonal battens on the vertical sides.

Dimensions. The main standard dimensions of pallets for international transport are Finnish or FIN (120x100x10 cm), European or EUR (120x80x14.5 cm) and American (120x120x14.5 cm).
