Molybdenum is a soft, ductile, shiny, silvery-white transition metal.

Molybdenum powder is pressed into blanks (briquettes), which are then sintered in a vacuum or in a hydrogen environment at a temperature of about 2000 ° C, forming a monolithic metal. The blanks are then repeatedly forged and rolled to obtain sheets of the desired thickness. This process may include heating to prevent cracking. To achieve very thin thickness, the sheets are cold rolled - at room temperature, which increases strength and dimensional accuracy. After cold deformation, the metal becomes brittle. To restore plasticity, annealing is carried out - heating in a vacuum or inert environment (argon) to 1100-1200 ° C. The finished tape is cut to the desired dimensions, checked for defects, compliance with thickness tolerances, flatness and surface cleanliness.

Used to manufacture heating elements, screens, guides and reflectors. Also used as a heat-conducting and current-conducting material in transistors, diodes, integrated circuits and light-emitting diodes. The tape is used in soldering refractory metals and as a barrier layer. Used in aggressive environments, such as reactors and heat exchangers, due to its corrosion resistance.
