First, the molten metal is atomized with a compressed gas (such as argon or nitrogen), forming small spherical particles. This method produces powders with controlled particle size and shape, which is important for uniform deposition. The molten metal stream is broken up by a jet of water, which results in the formation of a powder with a rougher and more uneven surface. This method is less expensive, but the resulting powders may have lower fluidity compared to gas atomization. Metal powders are mixed and ground in ball mills, which allows for the production of alloys with a uniform distribution of components. This method is effective for creating powders with unique properties.

Main components: iron, nickel and cobalt. Alloying elements: chromium, boron, silicon, carbon, tungsten and molybdenum.
