Tungsten powder VN-5 1,7 microns - is a finely dispersed form of tungsten metal obtained by chemical reduction of tungsten trioxide with hydrogen at high temperature. It has high heat resistance, hardness and density, which makes it in demand for the manufacture of parts for the defense and aerospace industries, reinforced materials, electrodes and hard alloys. The size of the powder fractions is regulated by the synthesis conditions and affects its further application.
The main thing
Material
Under normal conditions, tungsten is a hard, heavy, shiny metal with a silvery gray color.
View by manufacturing method
First, the ore is enriched by separating tungsten minerals from waste rock using physical methods - flotation, gravity enrichment, etc. The enriched concentrate is dissolved in acids or alkalis to obtain a tungstate solution. It is then precipitated as ammonium paratungstate. Ammonium paratungstate is calcined in a furnace at a temperature of about 600-800 °C, resulting in the formation of tungsten trioxide. It is reduced in a hydrogen atmosphere at a temperature of 700-1000 °C. Depending on the reduction conditions, a powder with different dispersion and morphology is obtained.
