The main area of application of Ferrovanadium FVd80 is the metallurgical industry, namely the steelmaking and foundry industries. In metallurgy, ferrovanadium is used for alloying cast irons, steels and alloys. The use of ferrovanadium in alloying steels and cast irons makes it possible to obtain a fine-grained lattice, improve such characteristics as hardenability, resistance to alternating loads and impact strength. Varieties of ferrovanadium, in particular nitrided ferrovanadium, are used for alloying stainless, low-alloy and high-speed steels.

The main thing
Material
vanadium is a ductile silver-gray metal that is covered in air with a beautiful film of vanadium oxides, the different colors of which are due to the different thickness of the oxide layer
View by manufacturing method
In industry, when obtaining vanadium from iron ores with its admixture, a concentrate is first prepared, in which the vanadium content reaches 8-16%. Next, by oxidative treatment, vanadium is transferred to the highest oxidation state +5 and sodium vanadate NaVO3, easily soluble in water, is separated. When the solution is acidified with sulfuric acid, a precipitate forms, which after drying contains more than 90% vanadium. The primary concentrate is reduced in blast furnaces to produce vanadium concentrate, which is then used in the smelting of an alloy of vanadium and iron - the so-called ferrovanadium (contains from 35 to 80% vanadium). Vanadium metal can be prepared by reduction of vanadium chloride with hydrogen, thermal reduction of vanadium oxides (V2O5 or V2O3) with calcium, thermal dissociation of VI2 and other methods.

Type by purpose
Vanadium chloride is used in the thermochemical decomposition of water in nuclear-hydrogen energy. Vanadium pentoxide is widely used as a positive electrode (anode) in high-power lithium batteries and accumulators. Vanadium oxide is used as a catalyst at the stage of converting sulfur dioxide into sulfuric anhydride. Over 90% of all vanadium produced is used as an alloying additive in steels, mainly high-strength low-alloy steels, and to a lesser extent, stainless and tool steels, as well as in the production of high-strength titanium alloys. Its use is especially effective in combination with tungsten, molybdenum and nickel. Vanadium is used in parts that require very high strength, such as automobile engine pistons. Vanadium steel is used to create submersible drilling platforms for oil drilling. Private companies produce medals and collectible tokens from pure vanadium. Vanadium dioxide semiconductor material is used for thermistors, memory switches and displays.
