Aluminum foil 0,08х1000 mm 8011 О is a special type of sheet metal with a thickness of 0.007 to 0.2 mm. It is a metallic "paper" whose physical properties are very different from metal sheets.

There are several methods by which foil metal is produced:

An aluminum billet is heated to a temperature of +500 degrees Celsius and hot rolled to a thickness of 2 mm. Then the metal cools and is fed to the cold rolling machine, where it is rolled to the required thickness.

With the help of a continuous casting machine, a thin billet is created, which is then passed through a foil rolling machine. Then the finished material is cut into sheets or wound into rolls.

Hard foil does not require additional processing - it goes into production immediately after rolling. And to get a soft and flexible material, additional annealing is required.

Foil is an almost indispensable element for the packaging of food and non-food products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, animal feed, cosmetics, industrial products and much more.

In the construction industry, metallic paper is used for heat and vapor barrier of premises. Due to the good conductivity of electricity, it is used in electrical engineering and precision engineering. In the printing industry, it is essential for embossing.

Aluminum foil is a brilliant invention of mankind, its truly unique properties deserve all kinds of praise and universal recognition. It was invented at the beginning of the twentieth century, and is widely used to this day. Aluminum foil is successfully used in many areas of various industries, is an indispensable tool in everyday life and construction. This unique material is used even in the space industry, and this says a lot. The word "foil" in Latin means sheet, in this case it is a very thin sheet. The required fineness is achieved by many rollings of aluminum ingots under the action of different temperatures, as a result of which the final shape of the product appears.

Manufacturing process

To convert an aluminum ingot into a finished form, a large amount of specialized equipment is required, rolling presses, powerful heaters, nitrogen presses, edge trimming machines and many other measuring equipment are involved. At the first stage of production, large ingots are passed through a rolling mill, the distance of the shafts is gradually reduced and the thickness of the sheet becomes about 1 cm, after which the raw material is sent to the rolling mill. There, the cooled aluminum sheets are rolled several more times and reach a final thickness of 0.2 mm. In the production process, raw materials are rolled, fired, trimmed, laminated and varnished.

Properties

This type of metal product has a number of advantages along with other materials. The foil has anti-corrosion properties, has a high degree of thermal conductivity, does not melt and does not lose its shape, and resists the effects of chemical active substances. With a thickness of 0.009mm, it has the ability to resist vapors and gases, thus being a high degree impermeable material. Thin sheets of foil have an increased resistance to static electricity, this material tends to easily take on a given shape. Aluminum foil is an environmentally friendly material that, despite its "iron" properties, is able to dissolve in the environment. During the production process, aluminum sheets are subjected to hot firing at high temperatures, due to the use of this technology, the product becomes sterile at the output, which makes it possible to use it for food purposes. Thanks to these excellent performances, aluminum foil is today a material used frequently, widely and everywhere.

Types of foil

According to its types and purpose, aluminum foil is mainly divided into three categories, these are:

1) Cold-rolled foil according to GOST 745-2003, which is also called food foil, is used for food packaging and not only.

2) Aluminum foil for technical purposes according to GOST 618-73, mainly serves as an insulating material.

3) Aluminum foil according to GOST 25905-83 - for the manufacture of capacitors.

Aluminum foil also comes in different markings: OH - annealed standard, GOH - clarified annealed, H 18 - cold rolled, H 19 - cold rolled special hardness, H 24 - hardened,GH 28 - hard, deep drawing.

Additionally, the material differs in the type of surface, it can be smooth, for finishing and with finishing, one-sided with a glossy and matte surface, or two-sided matte.

Application in industry

Mankind uses aluminum foil in many areas, or rather, almost everywhere. In the food industry, it is used for packaging products, baking dishes in the oven in the kitchen, and thermal bags are made from it. In the medical field, foil is actively used for hermetic packaging of medicines, including tablets. In technical terms, aluminum foil is used for thermal insulation required in the construction of baths, saunas, wall insulation and balconies. This material also serves as the basis for the vapor barrier of pipes for hot and cold water supply. Foil is used in the performance of electrical work, the manufacture of parts for air conditioners and capacitors, and is successfully used in the printing industry, furniture and automotive industries.

Aluminum foil, which began commercial production in the first decade of the twentieth century, replaced tin foil, a popular packaging material at the end of the 19th century. The unique combination of properties of aluminum foil - impermeability, lightness, strength, food safety and environmental friendliness - allowed it to quickly replace tin foil and become one of the most popular packaging materials on the world market.

Environmental friendliness

Aluminum foil is an absolutely environmentally friendly material. Foil is 100% recyclable without losing its unique properties. Aluminum foil completely decomposes in the ground (according to experts, thin foil completely decomposes within one year).

Heat resistance

Aluminum foil is resistant to high temperatures, does not melt or deform when heated. The melting point of aluminum - 660 degrees - is unattainable in domestic conditions. Due to its resistance to high and low temperatures, the foil is used both for heat treatment and for freezing products.

Hygiene and food safety

Aluminum foil is non-toxic, safe for use in contact with food, does not change their taste and smell, reliably protects against external factors and prevents the emergence and reproduction of bacteria. The last stage of foil production - the final annealing - makes it an almost sterile material, which provides a wide range of foil applications in the food industry.

Unique barrier properties

One of the key advantages of foil is its complete impermeability and opacity, thanks to which it protects products from exposure to light, moisture and odors. The protective properties of the foil provide a wide range of applications - from food packaging to building insulation.

Application of foil in various industries

food industry

The unique properties of the foil, which include impermeability, strength and food safety, provide the widest range of applications in various segments of the food industry.

Foil is a popular material for food packaging: dairy and dry products, confectionery, ready-to-eat and convenience foods, tea and coffee products, beverages, and pet food.

Pharmaceutical industry

Due to its hygiene and health safety, aluminum foil remains one of the most sought-after materials in the packaging of pharmaceuticals, allowing them to be stored and transported for a long time.

Cosmetic industry

In the beauty and personal care industry, aluminum foil is widely used to produce various types of flexible packaging due to its light, air and moisture barrier properties.

tobacco industry

Tobacco manufacturers use aluminum foil to produce inner packaging for cigarette packs, loose tobacco packaging and cigar wrappers - the foil's barrier properties help preserve the flavor of the tobacco, prevent moisture from penetrating and extend product shelf life.

Production of heat exchangers

Due to its high thermal conductivity, aluminum foil is widely used for the production of heat exchangers in heating and air conditioning systems - its use allows you to save energy and achieve maximum efficiency with minimal material consumption.

Automotive

The foil is used for the interior decoration of car interiors, contributing to greater passenger safety - due to its impermeability and fire resistance, the foil prevents the spread of flames in case of fires. The barrier properties of the foil also provide soundproofing to the cabin.

Construction and electrical industry

The thinness of the foil, combined with its strength and impermeability, provides it with a significant advantage when choosing a material for wall insulation, since the foil performs all the necessary barrier functions, significantlysaving room space.
