Aluminum foil AD0 0.5x1000 mm is a thin sheet of aluminum, widely used in industry and everyday life. The foil is made in several stages: first, alumina (aluminum oxide) is obtained from bauxite, then it is converted into pure aluminum by electrolysis. Then, the molten aluminum is poured into molds to obtain ingots or rods. The ingots are heated and rolled into thick sheets, reducing the thickness from several centimeters to millimeters. Then the sheets are rolled repeatedly on cold mills until they reach a thickness of less than 0.2 mm. For very thin foil, double rolling (two sheets at the same time) is used. During the annealing process, the foil is heated to remove internal stresses and increase plasticity.
