Aluminum sheet 12.0 (1.52x3.02) 2017A T451 is a type of flat rolled metal, which is produced in the form of sheets with a thickness of more than 10 mm. It is made of alloy D16 or duralumin, which contains the following substances: aluminum (93.5%), copper (4.5%), magnesium (1.5%) and manganese (1.0%). Also, iron, silicon, zinc and chromium can be used as additives, the specific volume of which does not exceed 0.5%.

The alloy's low weight and high specific strength make it practically indispensable in aircraft construction.

After annealing (heating to a temperature of +500 degrees Celsius), the metal becomes ductile and flexible. If an alloy is naturally hardened or artificially hardened, it becomes tough and hard.

The main disadvantage of the alloy is its low resistance to oxidation. Therefore, duralumin is often coated with a special primer or clad with pure aluminum (a thin layer of metal is applied to the surface of the alloy).

Plates D16 are used in aircraft, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering. They are needed to create the skin of fuselages, wagons, hulls of equipment and vans. Dural is also used for the production of external protective elements for spacecraft and rockets.

Due to its high plasticity and fatigue strength, duralumin is used in movable joints, as well as welded, bolted and riveted structures that do not bear the main load.
