Brass nut DIN 934 - a hex nut, one of the most popular in the line of these products, is produced according to similar domestic standards GOST 5927 - 70; GOST 5915 - 70.

Scopes of brass nuts: instrumentation, power plants, structural elements in water supply systems, air conditioning systems, air venting, in plumbing structures, in the assembly of furniture structures, and others.

There are many varieties of this type of fasteners, which differ from each other in strength classes, sizes, shapes and other features. Based on the design features, brass nuts are:

     hexagonal crown;

     hexagon slotted;

     cap nuts,

     nuts with rotary handle,

     triangular,

     nuts with slots or holes,

     round,

     cap,

     round slotted,

     high-strength.

Brass nuts are distinguished by increased resistance to corrosion (they do not rust), they are not magnetized, which is especially important when assembling some mechanisms where the use of metal nuts is unacceptable. Also, brass fasteners are distinguished by a high conductivity of electricity, which must be taken into account when assembling and operating them. It is used in aggressive environments, since the alloy is resistant to their effects.

A huge advantage of brass fasteners is low cost, which saves on the cost of final goods and reduces production costs.

Depending on the design solutions, brass nuts are divided into the following types:

     Hexagonal. Available in the form of a turnkey hexagon of the following types:

     low, have a reduced height, which is less than the thread diameter, are used in assemblies working on thread shear, as well as spaces with limited space for mounting fasteners;

     standard height, products are made with metric and inch threads;

     with a nylon ring, used in units with increased vibration, or joints requiring tightness;

     cap, are used to protect the connection from the aggressive effects of external factors and give the finished structure a beautiful appearance.

     Nut lamb. It is also called "American". The product is produced with two protruding rectangular winglets in the upper part, it is installed in the working position manually without using a tool. It is used in units where quick disassembly/assembly of threaded connections is required.

     Round with a knurling and a corrugated surface. They are made in two types: with a hole for the pin and without it. Designed for mechanical assembly units that require manual adjustment.

Advantages of brass nuts:

     the possibility of long-term use in aggressive environments;

     no oxidation at high humidity;

     long operating period;

     at mechanical assembly plants;

     high reliability of threaded connections;

     do not deform with temperature changes;

     simplicity of design ensures quick installation;

     a wide variety of shapes and sizes allows you to choose a product for a specific project.

Brass nuts are used to solve the following tasks:

     in knots with high efforts to shear the thread;

     for assembling units with light loads and frequent assembly / disassembly of threaded connections;

     when assembling exhibition stands and decorative structures;

     in limited spaces for connecting fasteners;

     installation of sanitary equipment;

     in mechanical engineering, instrument making, energy;

     carrying out repair and construction works;

     assembly of water pipelines.

When selecting brass nuts, the following characteristics are taken into account:

     The diameter and thread pitch of the nut is selected in accordance with the size of the bolt or stud with which it will be used.

     The strength class of the product affects the maximum possible load that can be supported without deformation of the nut. This parameter can be viewed in the standard to which it complies.

     The shape of the nut is selected according to the functions for which it is intended. For example, products with a nylon ring are used in places where tightness of connections is necessary, and cap products are used to protect fasteners from moisture and dirt, to give an aesthetic appearance to the finished structure.

     The tightening torque must be optimal to ensure normal operation of the fastened assembly. If the tightening torque is insufficient, the assembly will arbitrarily unscrew, and its elements will wear out prematurely.

     It is preferable that the nut be from suchthe same material as a bolt or stud, it will be possible to achieve the maximum performance of the fastened elements and their long-term operation without the appearance of corrosion processes.

The installation of brass fasteners is determined by their shape, for example, “Americans” and knurled products are twisted by hand, and a key is used for hex.

Due to their high corrosion resistance, brass nuts are widely used. They are simple in execution and have a lower cost in comparison with other alloys, they are decorative. Often, alloys L63 and LS59-1 are used for their manufacture, the technical requirements for which are specified in the text of GOST 15527. In addition to oxidation resistance, brass nuts are not magnetized, which is necessary when assembling some mechanisms. Also, it is worth considering its high electrical conductivity during installation and operation. Technical descriptions of this product are specified in GOST 5927 - 70; GOST 5915 - 70. Nuts made of brass are used in aviation, the nuclear industry, instrument making, radio electronics and in the manufacture of furniture.

When creating bolts, manufacturers use two different methods for making bolts - turning and stamping. The first technology is suitable for the production of individual products to order or small batches of products. All operations are performed on screw-cutting lathes. Stamping can be cold or hot, followed by thread rolling. The rolled product is subjected to cold plastic deformation with a degree of deformation of 5-20% and wire is obtained, which is cut into blanks. The workpiece is sequentially deformed by cold die forging into six technological transitions on a six-position press without inversion or with inversion by 1800. In this case, an external hexagon and a thread hole are formed in the axial zone. The thread in the nut is formed by cutting or rolling

Type by purpose
A nut is a fastener with a threaded hole. Use in conjunction with a bolt, screw or stud to create a secure fastening connection. Nut is a fastener designed for screwing onto a threaded rod of a bolt and stud when installing detachable connections of components or elements of equipment and metal structures. Nuts are mainly used in mechanical assembly industries - from children's construction sets to bridge construction and other engineering ideas. In the automotive industry, special wheel nuts (popularly known as lug nuts) are used that can prevent unauthorized removal of the wheel. Bolt - this hardware is designed for fastening and fixing parts of small sizes and planes. It allows you to make various fastenings, couplings or connecting parts to each other. A bolt is a threaded part that takes part in a collapsible connection. It is used to fix a part at one point. Galvanized bolts are metal fasteners used in everyday life, in production, and in industry.
