Among electrical insulating materials, resin tape, as an excellent dielectric, is popular in many industries. The product is a strip of cotton fabric impregnated with a bituminous substance. This is a special impregnating mass obtained by fusing bitumen with machine oil. It is the composition of the impregnation that provides the electrical insulating characteristics of the tape. The technological process of manufacturing a product consists of two main stages: the initial impregnation of fabrics and their subsequent cutting into strips.
The fabric has a high degree of stickiness: this is one of its main properties; the interaction of the tape with the conductors does not affect their parameters in any way. The quality of the series is checked using heating at a temperature of +1000 degrees for 15-16 hours. At the end of the experiment, the color of the copper rod on which the tape is wound should not change.
An important quality parameter of the product, in addition to stickiness, which must be present when it is used in a production environment: the absence of any foreign materials and substances in the composition. Otherwise, the resin tape will not be able to ensure the electrical insulation of materials.
Scope of application and supply
The product is widely used as insulation, also for other purposes:
● for sealing those parts of the cable that are attached to couplings, terminal boxes and other connecting elements;
● it is used to insulate wires where they are connected;
● protects the ends of the wires from getting wet or getting condensate, as well as other external factors that can damage mechanisms and assemblies;
● insulating material is used as a replacement for rubberized tape if the latter is not available.
The industry produces two series of fabric insulators: LN - used for outdoor work and LP - for underground work. Resin tape is supplied in skeins, which are wrapped in special technical oiled paper, then bundles are placed in boxes made of cardboard. Standard roller width: 60 mm, but on request it is possible to produce rollers with a width of 50, 60 and 75 mm. The rollers are stored for a year and a half, after which they lose their properties.
