Electrodes for spectral analysis C-3 are used for air-arc cutting of steel and welding of copper, cutting rivets, removing profits and casting defects, gouging electric tacks and welds at a current of up to 1000 A.

Carbon electrodes are produced by pressing and subsequent heat treatment of coal powder in the form of round and rectangular rods.

For air-arc cutting, round rods (VDK grades) with a diameter of 6, 8, 10, 12 mm and a length of 300 mm are produced, as well as flat rods of the VDP brand, with a cross section of 5x12 and 5X18 mm and a length of 350 mm. Graphitization reduces the ohmic resistance of the electrodes by 4 times, so they heat up less, oxidize (burn out) less and are used at a higher current.

Welding and cutting with a carbon electrode, as well as plasma cutting, are only possible with direct current of direct polarity.
