PGM graphite is produced from uncalcined petroleum coke - a solid residue from the secondary processing of petroleum products or oil with an ash content of no more than 0.02%. The required level of raw material purity is achieved as a result of exposure to high temperature and control of the gas environment. First, the coke is heated at a temperature of 1200 °C, then it is placed in a special autoclave and goes through the graphitization stage at a maximum temperature of up to 3000 °C. High mechanical strength is achieved due to the fine-grained structure of the material. To enhance its performance qualities, graphite is modified - impregnated with coal tar pitch, pyrolytic carbon or salt solutions.

Chemical composition

The chemical composition of graphite is not pure. Ash is present in large quantities (up to 10-20%), consisting of various components (FeO, SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, P2O5, CuO, CaO, etc.), gases (up to 2%) and bitumen, and sometimes water.

PGM graphite is used for the production of technical equipment for the production of semiconductor materials, containers for melting semiconductor materials, a crystallizer for casting non-ferrous metals, electrodes - tools used in electric pulse processing and the manufacture of stamps, press molds from various steels. PGM graphite is used in crucibles, plates, disks, vacuum heaters, high-frequency and other electric furnaces, screens, boats for the production of ceramics, non-ferrous and rare metals, and so on in other areas at high temperatures. This Graphite is indispensable for electroerosion and hot pressing. It is used for the production of technological equipment, as well as parts experiencing increased mechanical loads and (or) exposure to high temperatures.
