Hardener for epoxy resin, analogous to PEPA Poly 7 is a composite material based on a hardener and epoxy resin. When mixed, the two undergo a chemical polymerization reaction, forming a strong thermosetting polymer. These systems are characterized by strong adhesion to composites, concrete, metal, and wood, and resistance to mechanical stress, chemicals, and moisture. Epoxy systems are often used in electrical engineering, shipbuilding, construction, mechanical engineering, and the creation of composite products. They are used for flooring, the production of protective coatings, adhesives, laminates, and structural repair. Depending on their composition, epoxy systems can have different temperature resistance, viscosity, and curing times.

It is manufactured in several stages at a chemical plant. First, epoxy resin is obtained by reacting epichlorohydrin with bisphenol A or other phenolic compounds. This results in an oligomer with epoxy groups, which is then purified and stabilized. Hardeners—amines, anhydrides, or polyamides—are selected and produced separately, along with various modifiers, plasticizers, and fillers. The components are then dosed and mixed in specified proportions, forming the finished epoxy system. Before use, the resin and hardener are mixed, the polymerization reaction is initiated, and the material gradually cures, forming a durable and chemically resistant polymer.
Chemical composition
The chemical composition of an epoxy system includes several main components. The base is epoxy resin—most often diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) or similar compounds containing epoxy (oxyrone) groups. The second essential component is the hardener: amines (aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic), acid anhydrides, or polyamides, which ensure crosslinking of the polymer chains. Additionally, the composition may include curing accelerators, plasticizers, impact modifiers, fillers (quartz sand, talc, microcalcite), pigments, and stabilizers.
