Fluoroplast F-4, sheet, 2,0х200х200 mm It is a unique material with high chemical and heat resistance and a low coefficient of friction. It is unaffected by aggressive environments, maintains its properties in a temperature range from –200°C to +260°C, and has excellent dielectric properties. This makes fluoroplastic sheets widely used in the chemical, electronics, and mechanical engineering industries. They are used to create plain bearings, insulation, gaskets, and other components requiring high durability and reliability.
The main thing
View by manufacturing method
The production of fluoroplastic sheets is based on the processing of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a powdered polymer obtained from tetrafluoroethylene (C₂F₄) by polymerization. During the forming process, PTFE powder is poured into a mold and cold-pressed under high pressure. The pressed blank is then heated to 360–380°C to fuse the polymer particles into a monolithic structure. After controlled cooling, the fluoroplastic block is milled or cut into sheets of the desired thickness.
Chemical composition
Fluoroplastic sheet is made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a synthetic fluorinated polymer with the chemical formula (C₂F₄)ₙ. Its molecule consists of carbon and fluorine atoms: each carbon atom is bonded to two fluorine atoms, forming a strong chain of —CF₂ units.
Type by purpose
Fluoroplast-4, or Teflon, is actively used in mechanical engineering. Due to its resistance to friction and exposure to aggressive environments, oil seals, bearings, piston rings, boots, and car tires are made from polymer. Resistance to heat allows it to be used to produce parts for motors; in electrical and radio engineering. The material can be used as an insulator or a current conductor (by making modifications to its molecular structure). Printed circuit boards, cables, relay elements and switches are made from polytetrafluoroethylene; in light industry. Treatment of products with this polymer makes them waterproof; in the chemical industry. Teflon is used to produce laboratory glassware, including anti-corrosion tubes for chromatographs; in medicine. The use of fluoroplastic in the production of vascular and internal organ prostheses is due to the fact that it does not cause immunological reactions; in the food industry. Fluoroplastic is used in the production of frying pans and baking dishes with non-stick coating, syringes for creams, containers for perishable products, and dough rolling mechanisms.
