PET plastic, polyethylene terephthalate (lavsan) sheet 20х610х1000 mm is a durable material that is resistant to high temperatures. This material is obtained by extrusion of polyethylene terephthalate melt. Lavsan is used in construction and in the creation of TV screens. Such sheets can be recycled. They are environmentally friendly and moisture resistant. They are easy to machine and have a long service life. There are several types of sheets that differ in size and thickness so that you can choose the best option for a specific task.
The main thing
View by manufacturing method
Polyethylene terephthalate is produced by polycondensation of terephthalic acid (or its dimethyl ether) with ethylene glycol at high temperatures. This forms long polymer chains. The resulting granulated PET is heated to the melting point (about 250–270°C). The melt is fed to a series of cooling rollers (calenders), where it is formed into a flat sheet of the required thickness. The sheet is cooled, then cut to the required format or wound into rolls.
Chemical composition
The main monomers are: terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. The process of formation of polyethylene terephthalate occurs as follows - in the reaction, ethylene glycol combines with terephthalic acid, forming a complex polyester with regular alternation of links through ester (–COO–) groups.
Type by purpose
Polyethylene terephthalate is used to produce plastic bottles for water, drinks, oil, containers and film. In the textile industry, it is used to make synthetic fabrics - lavsan, terylene, dacron. It is used to make ropes, nets and belts. In the field of mechanical engineering and electronics, it is used to make: insulating materials and parts of mechanisms that require strength and wear resistance. In the construction industry, it is used to strengthen building materials.

Polyethylene terephthalate sheet standards
ISO 527 - Determination of tensile properties. This standard defines tensile testing methods for plastics and is used to evaluate the modulus of elasticity, elongation at break, yield strength, tensile strength, material deformation behavior characteristics, strain at maximum stress, and yield stress.
ASTM D638 - Method for Determining the Mechanical Properties of Plastics under Uniaxial Tensile Testing. This standard specifies the tensile modulus of elasticity, elongation at yield and break, tensile strength, stress at a specified strain, yield stress, and tensile strength.
ISO 178 - Flexural Testing. This standard defines the behavior of a material under load, deformation, flexural stress and strength, and flexural modulus of elasticity. It is used for injection molded parts, composites, filled plastics, thermosetting plastics, and thermoplastics.
