Sleeves are manufactured by extrusion from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) or linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), sometimes with the addition of LDPE for increased elasticity. Polymer granules are loaded into an extruder, where they melt at high temperatures and form a homogeneous mass. The melt is forced through a ring die, forming a continuous tubular blank—the sleeve. The blank is then air-cooled, calibrated for diameter and wall thickness, and then passes through a stabilization system. Special additives are added to the material: UV stabilizers for protection from solar radiation, antioxidants, and sometimes antiseptic components to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. The finished sleeve is wound into rolls or folded and undergoes quality control for strength, tightness, and uniform thickness.
