Polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), or their composites are used in production. The material is fed into a multi-channel extrusion die. This results in the formation of two or three molten layers: the top and bottom layers—the outer protective sheets—and the middle layer—the foamed or moldable layer. The middle layer passes through a forming drum or cell plate. Under the influence of vacuum or air pressure, uniform, closed cavities (cells) are created within it, resembling a honeycomb. A second melt (the top sheet) is applied to the formed side, hermetically sealing the cells. Calendering—rolling between cooling rollers—is used to equalize the thickness and seal the cavities. After cooling, the sheet is stabilized and cut to size.

Polypropylene (PP) is a chemical compound classified as a synthetic polymer. It is a product of the polymerization of propylene and belongs to the class of polyolefins.

Type by purpose

Applications: in ventilated facade systems as a thermal insulation or damping layer, in sandwich panels with PVC, aluminum, or fiberglass, and as thermal and sound insulation for walls, floors, and roofs. It is also used in shipping containers, trailers, railcars, and yachts as a rigid, moisture-resistant material. It is also used in sandwich car body structures. The material is resistant to moisture and chemicals, making it suitable for food and pharmaceutical logistics. It is also used for kitchen splashback panels, window sills, and shower screens.
