First, the isocyanate and polyol are carefully measured, purified, and prepared for mixing. Plasticizers, colorants, and catalysts are added if necessary. The components are combined in a reactor or mixing chamber. A chemical reaction begins, resulting in the formation of polyurethane. For casting rods, the liquid mixture is poured into cylindrical molds lined with a release liner for easy removal. The molds are maintained at a controlled temperature until the polyurethane has completely cured. The cured rod is removed, ground if necessary, and calibrated for diameter. The finished rods are cut to the required length and packaged.
