Heat Resistant Conveyor Belts

Heat-resistant conveyor belts are used to move goods with high temperatures and varying degrees of abrasiveness, in particular for the transportation of ferrous and non-ferrous ores, coke, fertilizers, dolomite or ore concentrate. This type of conveyor belt is most often found in the metallurgical, mining or chemical industries, as well as in the manufacture of cement or fertilizers. The heat-resistant conveyor belt can be used in severe or especially severe operating conditions, and therefore it can be produced with different thicknesses of the working lining and with a different number of fabric layers. The main material in the manufacture of lining and interlayer rubber are special rubbers, specially designed for these operating conditions. This makes the rubber more resistant to burns and mechanical stress, wear-resistant and durable.

Heat-resistant conveyor belts that transport raw materials or products at temperatures exceeding 200°C, including pieces of red heat, are equipped with a heat-protective layer inside or on the surface of the working lining. Such a protective layer is made of asbestos or glass fabric, which can be impregnated with heat-resistant elastomers, metal mesh, and other heat-resistant materials. In the case when the temperature of the raw material with pieces of red heat does not exceed 200 ° C, the working lining is made of special rubber with high burn-through resistance.

In those heat-resistant conveyor belts that are used to move materials through heat chambers or other devices in which the air temperature can be above 200 ° C, the frame is made of fiberglass, and the outer lining is made of fluoropolymers or organosilicon polymers. However, the production of heat-resistant conveyor belts made of such materials is limited.

The material from which the outer covers of heat-resistant conveyor belts are made depends on the maximum allowable surface temperature of the belt. If it is 100°C and 120°C for a short time, then the linings are made from rubber compounds based on styrene-butadiene rubber, and if 150°C and 170°C for a short time, then from rubber compounds based on butyl, chlorobutyl, ethylene propylene and ethylene propylene diene and rubbers.
