Fire-resistant rubber 4х800х800 mm is a special elastomer material designed to withstand exposure to open flames and high temperatures. Unlike conventional rubber, it retains its shape when heated, is self-extinguishing, and does not support combustion. Fire resistance is achieved through the addition of flame retardants and mineral fillers, as well as the use of heat-resistant rubbers such as silicone, EPDM, chloroprene, and fluororubber. When exposed to fire, these additives form a protective layer that slows the degradation of the material, releases non-flammable gases, and absorbs heat. Fire-resistant rubber is in demand in the aviation, cable, and mechanical engineering industries for seals where reliability, fire resistance, and safety are essential.

The base rubbers used are naturally flame-retardant rubbers, such as VMQ, FKM, Viton, and EPDM. Flame-retardant substances, such as aluminum and magnesium hydroxide and phosphorus compounds, are added. The components are then mixed. The blanks are produced using pressing, extrusion, and calendering. Vulcanization occurs at 150–200°C. The rubber is then tested for self-extinguishing, smoke generation, gas toxicity, and compliance with standards.

Chemical composition

Typical composition of fire-resistant rubber: EPDM - 40%, Al(OH)₃ - 35%, SiO₂ + talc - 15%, Peroxide + stabilizers - 5%, Other additives - 5%.

It is used in industry and the power industry for: lining and sealing furnaces, boilers, heat exchangers, thermal expansion joints, vibration- and heat-insulating gaskets, sealing hatches, flanges, and inspection openings. In electrical engineering and cable products, it is used for: cable sheathing and insulation, fire-resistant entries and penetrations, cable seals and cuffs, rubber for distribution cabinets and panels. It is also used to make: heat-resistant mats, gaskets for furnaces and fireplaces, equipment insulation, and workwear.
