Food-grade rubber is manufactured by processing styrene-butadiene rubber with the addition of components approved for food contact. The process begins with the addition of rubber, food-grade plasticizers, fillers, antioxidants, and vulcanizing agents. The mixture is thoroughly mixed in rubber mixers or rollers until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The product is then formed into sheets or rolls using calendering or pressing. After forming, the material undergoes vulcanization at controlled temperature and pressure, which gives the rubber strength and elasticity. The final stage is cooling, trimming, and sanitary quality control, confirming the material's safety for food use.
Chemical composition
Main components: styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)—a copolymer of butadiene and styrene that forms the elastic base of the material. Food-grade fillers (precipitated chalk, kaolin, silicon dioxide)—increase strength and wear resistance. Food-grade plasticizers, antioxidants, and stabilizers.
