First, the materials are laid in layers on a molding drum: a bottom layer of rubber—the compressed portion of the belt; a cord thread—the load-bearing base that absorbs tension; and a top layer of rubber—the stretching portion. The blank is then placed in a mold with V-shaped grooves and subjected to heat and pressure. During vulcanization, the rubber polymerizes, and the belt acquires its final shape and hardness. After vulcanization, the belt is cooled, then cut to the required dimensions, and the side surfaces are ground to ensure precise geometry and adhesion to the pulleys.

Chemical composition

V-belts are composite products that combine rubber, textile, and polymer materials. The primary material is a rubber compound containing rubber, sulfur, carbon black, plasticizers and oils, antioxidants and anti-aging additives, and fillers such as kaolin, chalk, and talc.

Type by purpose

They are used to transmit rotary motion between shafts in various mechanisms. Their main advantage is a high coefficient of friction and efficient power transmission even with relatively low tension. They are used in internal combustion engines (generator drives, water pumps, fans, etc.); agricultural machinery (tractors, combines), compressors, pumps, and fans.
