Cherkasy seamless stainless steel pipe 08X18H10/12X18H10T (AISI304, AISI321), 10X17H13M2T (AISI316) (Metallobaza) cutting
Stainless seamless pipe is one of the types of pipe products, which is obtained from stainless high-alloy steel and does not have a welded joint. The cross section of products can have different shapes: round, square, rectangular, oval, etc. A seamless pipe has the necessary strength, rigidity and durability, as well as an increased level of technical and operational characteristics.
Rolled metal of this type is made of alloyed, carbon or low alloy steels. According to the production method, a seamless stainless pipe can be:
cold rolled;
hot rolled.
In the second case, the workpiece is heated. Hot-rolled pipe has thicker walls, up to 32 mm, and a diameter of up to 32.5 cm. Cold-rolled seamless products are thinner and come in smaller diameters.
The production of seamless stainless pipes is ensured by a production process with sequential execution:
rental;
pressing;
forging;
drawing;
centrifugal casting.
The scope of products depends on the type of their surface: raw, mirror and polished. One-piece seamless pipes do not need to be painted or primed. Welded and seamless products according to the ratio of their wall thickness to diameter are classified into extra-thin-walled, thin-walled, thick-walled, extra-thick-walled products.
According to the standards, 20 alloys with corrosion-resistant properties can be used for the production of seamless pipes.
The most popular steel, which is distinguished by corrosion resistance, which is used for the manufacture of pipes, is the 12x18n10t grade. It contains alloying additives such as chromium, titanium or nickel. Often, products made of steel grade 12x18n10t are used when laying water pipes for hot and cold water, since they do not adversely affect the quality and composition of drinking water.
Note! The relative elongation of such pipes should be at least 40%, and the tensile strength should be 529 N / mm2 (according to GOST 9940).
Such products can have a different cut shape. Non-circular sections are used to create various metal structures, for the production of interior items, as well as interior decoration of various premises.
Steel grade 10x17n13m2t is highly resistant to acid environments. This property is preserved under long-term exposure to temperatures up to 600 °C. Pipes made of this material are widely used in the chemical, food and medical industries. They are perfectly welded, forming a sealed and reliable seam, which determines their long service life.
The technological process for the production of seamless pipes is very laborious and complex. It requires significant inputs of raw materials and energy. All substances used in it must be of high quality, as their properties and characteristics will be transferred to the products. It is also required to clean the metal from impurities.
Pipes are made on high-precision automated machines. At the initial stage, the workpiece is heated in a special furnace. After reaching the red heat temperature, it is sent to the pressing and piercing mill. To give shape, special forming elements act on the workpiece. Hot metal machining does not involve tearing or warping in the wrong direction. Cooling down, it will retain the resulting shape.
Next, the pipe is rolled to the required length, the inner and outer diameters and wall thicknesses are formed. The products are cooled and calibrated in a special bath. Some pipes go through an additional quenching process in which they are heated and then cooled instantly. This procedure leads to the rearrangement of the molecular network and imparts the necessary properties.
At the final stage, the pipes are cut into segments of the required length and marked.
Grade steel for the manufacture of stainless pipes
The most popular steel grade is 12X18H10T, since it has maximum corrosion resistance. It uses chromium, titanium and nickel as alloying additives. Most often, products made from such steel are used in the installation of plumbing systems for hot and cold water, since the material does not contain harmful substances that can harm the human body drinking this water.
Good mechanical stability prevents such substances from entering the system from the outside. According to state quality standards (GOST 9940), the elongation of pipes made of such steel should be at least 40%, and the tensile strength level should be 529 N / sq. mm.
Other steel grades suitable for the manufacture of seamless pipes:
10X17H13M2T: increased resistance to aggressive environments with high acidity, which is not lost even when the material is thermally exposed (up to 600 degrees Celsius). This steel grade is used most of all in the chemical, food and medical industries. Pipes from this steel are enoughPrecisely easy to weld, thus obtaining a monolithic product with an extremely long service life.
06HN28MDT: ideal for solving the problems of the metallurgical and petrochemical industries. Again, the material is inert to acids accompanied by heating to high temperatures.
10X23H18: one of the grades of high-alloy steel, which has a unique resistance to high temperatures and open flames. Such steel is used to manufacture fuel combustion chambers, high-temperature pipelines, heating boilers and other equipment in which the body must withstand temperatures up to 1100 degrees Celsius.
Specifications
Seamless stainless steel pipes compare favorably with their strength and resistance to rust. The absence of welded seams is guaranteed to protect products from near-weld corrosion.
In comparison with electric-welded analogues, a number of advantages can be distinguished:
The pipe does not have a weld - the most vulnerable part of the product.
It has the same strength throughout.
In addition, such pipes are effectively operated at high carrier pressures, and are able to withstand destructive external influences. This makes it possible to use them in conditions of high humidity, high and low ambient temperatures. The threshold temperature for a simple carrier is 800°C, for aggressive chemicals - 350°C.
Other important features include:
The tensile strength of the material is not less than 529 N/sq.mm.
The relative elongation index is not less than 40%.
The sulfur content in steel is not less than 0.02%.
The permissible curvature of products is also strictly regulated and should not exceed the following values:
Pipes with a wall thickness of more than 0.5 mm - 1 mm per 1 m of length.
Products with a wall thickness of less than 0.5 mm and a cross section of more than 15 mm - 2 mm per 1 m of length.
The scope of use of stainless steel seamless pipe is very wide. The product is actively used in various areas of human activity. The popularity of pipes is due, first of all, to their unique characteristics:
Resistant to mechanical stress, the ability to work with aggressive chemicals and withstand severe pressure drops. These properties make such pipes indispensable in the chemical and oil and gas industries. Thick-walled products are able to provide the required level of reliability and eliminate the possibility of leakage. Seamless pipes are also used in the manufacture of special containers designed to transport dangerous or high-pressure substances.
No chemical interaction with transported media. Allows the active use of stainless pipes in pharmacology, medicine, food industry. The ideal option would be to use seamless stainless steel for the construction of water supply networks, but, due to the relatively high cost of products, such solutions are rare.
Resistant to high temperatures and strong temperature fluctuations. These qualities make seamless stainless steel indispensable in internal combustion engines, heating devices, in the construction of furnaces and chimneys. Products are used in the nuclear industry, energy, aviation and cosmonautics.
The aesthetic appeal of stainless steel pipes also plays an important role. Smooth, polished products are used in the construction of buildings, decorating rooms, and making furniture.
