Steel pipes have many varieties, each of which is suitable for solving a certain range of tasks. The scope of pipes very often depends on their dimensions, which, in turn, are regulated by the relevant standards. About the standards governing the sizes of steel pipes and their scope, and will be discussed in this article.
If the pipe is to be reduced to a smaller diameter, the pilger rollers work over the conical rim; if you need an internal shape that differs from a round cross section, then the frame is profiled accordingly. Cold rolling increases the strength of the pipe and gives higher precision and surface quality. The main scope of longitudinally welded pipes is process pipelines designed for medium internal pressure, but if necessary, they are quite suitable for the installation of metal structures.
The standard of steel pipes created by this method is defined as follows:
Technological features of the production of longitudinally welded pipes are regulated by GOST 10704-91;
According to the standard, the outer diameter of this type of pipe can vary from 10 to 1420 mm, and the wall thickness can vary from 1 to 32 mm;
Products with a diameter of up to 426 mm can be produced both in measured and non-dimensional formats, and the length of a steel pipe of a larger diameter can only be random;
In addition to conventional pipes, products with a reinforced weld can also be created in production, but in this case, GOST 10706 will regulate the production process and the dimensions of the pipes.
The fundamental difference between such pipes and straight-seam pipes is that the production process includes pre-rolling the workpiece into a spiral shape before welding. Due to this factor, somewhat higher pressures are achieved that such a pipe can withstand.
The standard states in a separate paragraph that its effect does not apply to pipes for main gas and oil pipelines. In practice, this rule only affects the assortment - the resulting products are successfully used in the laying of heating mains, water lines and oil and gas pipelines. Seamless pipes are most often used in those areas where high reliability of the pipeline and the absence of leaks are required. Unlike hot-formed tubes, cold-rolled tubes are better suited to situations where high strength must go hand in hand with reduced structural weight - as required in the assembly of automobiles, aircraft, ships, and often used in the chemical industry. Seamless steel pipe GOST 8732-78, GOST 8734-75 is a pipe made from a steel billet without longitudinal and transverse seams. Seamless pipes are used in pipelines and boiler plants, machines and units; in shipbuilding, automotive and aircraft industries. When it is impossible to use welded pipes, seamless ones are used, because. the latter are distinguished by high strength, quality and durability, wear resistance and are able to work in operational conditions. Increased strength is important when water with high pressure and temperature flows through the pipeline. Also, seamless pipes have an increased anti-corrosion property - a special coating that protects against aggressive influences. Electric-welded steel pipe
Production of seamless pipes.
There are 4 ways to manufacture seamless pipes: rolling, drawing, forging and pressing. Seamless pipes according to the manufacturing method and production temperatures are:
hot deformed (rolled in a hot state), heat deformed (steel is heated to a temperature not exceeding the recrystallization temperature) and cold deformed (rolled without preheating);
by wall thickness: thick-walled and thin-walled.
Seamless hot-formed steel pipes GOST 8732-78
General purpose seamless steel pipes manufactured in OD, wall thickness and length.
The production of seamless hot-formed steel pipes is carried out by hot rolling, after which the pipes are subjected to additional cold rolling.
These pipes have increased strength and heat resistance, and therefore this type of pipe is used when installing a pipeline with water, gas, steam or oil products. And also they are widely used in aircraft and mechanical engineering, in the construction of boiler facilities.
The mass of 1 m of pipes is calculated by the formula:
M = 0.02466 x S (Dn-S), where
Dn - outer diameter, mm; S - wall thickness, mm
Assortment of steel seamless hot-formed pipes
The outer diameter of these pipes ranges from 25 to 700 mm inclusive. The wall thickness ranges from 2.5 mm to 75 mm.
Steel seamless hot-formed come in different thicknesses and diameters. Depending on the ratio of these values, pipes are distinguished: extra-thin-walled, thin-walled, thick-walled, extra-thick-walled.
Along the length of the pipe, seamless hot-formed pipes are made:
random length (4-12.5m)
