The process of producing lead sheets begins with the preparation of the workpiece (lead ingot GOST 3778-98 weighing from 30 to 40 kg). Next, before starting the rolling mill, the workpieces undergo mechanical cleaning (in some cases processing, milling) and control for the presence of contamination and inclusions of other bodies. The lead sheet is processed under pressure and rolling mills are used for this. During the rolling process, no cold-worked (work-hardened) layer is formed on the surface, because The recrystallization temperature is 30° C and phase transformations in lead occur immediately after pressure treatment. The manufacturing process provides for the shape and dimensions of the workpiece based on the required dimensions of the lead sheet. The final operation: the lead sheet is cut (edging).

Lead is used to make a protective layer on mobile partitions, walls, doors, ceilings, and floors. Also in medicine and manufacturing, lead clothing is used in the form of aprons, gloves, shoulder pads and similar protective equipment.
