Lead shot No. 6 hunting is a variation of lead castings that look like fine-grained balls. They are used as projectiles for shooting from smoothbore weapons. Lead shot is characterized by a cleanly polished surface and a regular spherical shape. Technical conditions of manufacture and certificates of conformity determine the high quality of the material.

The production of lead shot consists in using the casting method according to GOST GOST 7837-76 using primary lead grade C1 and additional elements - arsenic and antimony. The process of making lead shot comes down to pouring molten metal into a copper “colander”. The colander itself has holes, the dimensions of which can be from 0.07 to 0.5 mm. The bottom of the product is covered with a layer of porous cinders that appear on the surface of molten lead. Lead drops are formed of various sizes, larger than the holes in the colander. In this case, large-sized shot is cast in special iron molds. Lead shot is cast from a height of 30-45 m. This is done so that the drop can cool in the air. Casting is performed through a sieve into containers filled with water. The height can change if a cold air flow is passed from below. After the water, the lead shot falls on the table for drying, and then it is placed in a special drum, which rotates. There, during friction with other products, all irregularities, roughness and other surface defects disappear from the surface of the lead shot. Smooth grains gradually fall on the upper edge of the structure under a slight inclination of the planes: clear spherical pellets roll to the bottom, while products with unevenness roll off to the side over time and go to be melted down. Selected lead shot is sorted through screens and then sent for polishing in a rotating drum, where particles of graphite and molybdenum are already placed.
